Veneers in San Antonio, TX
What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers may be an option to attain the look you want. Veneers are a common solution for people who have a gap between their teeth, chipped teeth or teeth that are misshapen.
Dental veneers are thin covers glued to the front of teeth to give them a more traditionally formed appearance. Dental veneers are available at Sonrisa Dental offices in several styles. Consult our dentist near you to determine what is best for you.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Sonrisa Dental’s dentists near you typically remove a small amount of enamel from the front and sides of the teeth to prepare them for the placement of veneers. This frees up space for fitting the veneers, giving your teeth a more natural appearance. During the procedure, your dentist takes an impression, or mold, of the teeth that have been prepped. The dentist will also choose the appropriate tint of veneer for your teeth.
The impression is transported to a dental lab, where the porcelain veneers are custom-made to fit your teeth, which could take a few days. Meanwhile, the dentist may provide you with temporary veneers to wear.
Then, our dentist will place the veneers on the teeth at the following appointment to ensure that they fit and are in good shape. The teeth are cleaned, and the veneers are bonded to the tooth after any changes have been made.
Types of Veneers
Two of the most common types of veneers are porcelain and composite resin. Composite veneers have the following advantages:
- Multiple veneers can be applied in a single appointment.
- It costs less than porcelain.
- Simple to repair if necessary.
Porcelain veneers have the following advantages:
- They preserve the natural brightness and slightly translucent appearance.
- Lasts longer than composite.
- Don’t let the color alter over time.
